This project used existing population and census data, natural and built environment data, and health factors data to create a heat vulnerability index (HVI) to identify areas of greatest risk for negative health impacts due to extreme heat in the entire state of Wisconsin and the greater Milwaukee urban area. The maps can help identify high-risk neighborhoods and populations to receive targeted messaging related to heat events and additional resources during extreme heat events.
Please visit the Climate and Health site for a list of specific indicators that were used in the analysis.
About - Click to view information about the Heat Vulnerability Data Explorer. This section has a link to the Climate and Health Program website and information about the data.
Select a map - Click the drop-down menu to view and switch between the map options.
Compare map - Click the on-off button to turn it to the On position. When the button is in the On position a second map will appear. Use this to compare two datasets.
